Walking Together to Strengthen Cultural Connections

This week we had the privilege to be invited to the launch of VACCA’s Strengthening Cultural Connections training product in beautiful Naarm (Melbourne) at the iconic Aborigines Advancement League (The AAL is one of Victoria’s oldest continuing community controlled organisations and has been providing support and advocacy to mob for over 70 years!). After a beautiful, moving Welcome to Country which included a traditional smoking ceremony, we got to see and hold in our hands the new mandatory training modules for non-Indigenous foster carers for Victoria.
This product has a special place in our hearts as we were the co-designers and developers of this product with, for and walking alongside of VACCA this past 12 months. To say I was proud of my team was an understatement. What an honour to see their hard work, their passion, their deep respect and incredible capacity to help create and hold space for others to tell their stories, come to life in this beautiful product. I recognise and thank the VACCA team for their trust and faith in us and for allowing us to be part of this incredible journey. To the generous workers, carers and children who participated in the focus groups, the videos, the interviews, to enable us to bring their stories to life, we are so very grateful. This training package really will make a difference in the lives of carers, children and young people!
This is the work we love to do. Being ‘Practitioner Led’, our Project and Training teams know how to co-design and build products that are for people in the sector, and they do it with grace, dignity and deep respect for the lived experiences of those we work for.
If you have a training need that is unmet by a cookie-cutter, off-the-shelf product, our teams can work with you and your staff and clients, to build a product truly for you… practitioner led, practitioner developed.
