Our thoughts are with everyone affected in South East Queensland, Northern New South Wales, and surrounding areas https://www.ses.org.auby Ex-Cyclone Alfred. As communities are still experiencing the aftermath, or begin cleanup and recovery, we are reminded of the incredible strength and resilience that shines through in times like these. Stories of people coming together, offering support, and looking out for one another highlight the true spirit of community.
Even within our own team, we have members without power, no reception, flooded in or facing flood damage, yet the outpouring of care from colleagues across Australia and Aotearoa has been overwhelming. Messages of support, offers to help, and simple check-ins remind us how vital connection is in difficult times and the importance of community.
For children and young people who have already experienced trauma, disasters like this can be deeply distressing, amplifying anxiety and keeping them in a heightened state of stress. As we start the cleanup and the recovery process, patience, kindness, and compassion are more important now, more than ever. If you or someone you know needs support, here are some resources that can help.
